October 28, 2019 (Fargo, ND) Fargo Jet Center’s CEO, Pat Sweeney, and President, Jim Sweeney, have been inducted into the University of North Dakota (UND) Aerospace Aviation Hall of Fame.

After being established last year, the UND Aerospace Hall of Fame awards have become an annual tradition at the John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences. Individuals inducted into the UND Aerospace Hall of Fame are UND alumni who have contributed immensely to the field of aviation.

Pat Sweeney is co-founder and CEO of Fargo Jet Center and CEO of Weather Modification LLC. He started at Weather Modification LLC as a summer electronics radar technician in 1975 and rose through the ranks, serving as director of electronics, vice president and president before becoming CEO. Patrick has helped Weather Modification LLC arrange for more than 380 UND pilot internships since 1974 and 62 UND meteorologist internships since 1996. Fargo Jet Center and Weather Modification LLC have also offered several internships in aircraft maintenance, marketing, business, human resources, and engineering. Patrick was named the 2001 Business Innovator of the Year by the UND Center for Innovation and the 1997 Small Business Exporter of the Year by the North Dakota branch of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Jim Sweeney, younger brother of fellow 2019 UND Aerospace Hall of Fame Inductee, is co-founder and president of Fargo Jet Center and vice president of Weather Modification LLC. In 2012, he was elected chairman of the National Air Transportation Association and was president of Fargo Jet Center when it was named the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber’s 2010 Business of the Year. He was promoted to president of Premier Jet Center in 2014 and elected Chairman of the Fargo Air Museum in 2017. Jim is also a frequent guest lecturer for UND Aerospace courses.

The 2019 UND Aerospace Hall of Fame Hall of Fame inductees were honored at the UND Aerospace 2019 Hall of Fame Luncheon, which was held during Homecoming Week on Friday, October 4th. Other inductees included Jim Bunke, regional vice president of Gulfstream Aerospace Corp and Robert Muhs, director of aviation business consulting for The Boeing Co.
